Late Christmas deals and support Cumbria flood fund

November 2009

The images of Cumbria’s recent floods have been a shock to us all. It’s a county that relies on tourism, so please do give generously, if you can, to the Flood Recovery Fund. We’d all like to see Cumbria back up on its feet. Click here to donate through the Cumbria Community Foundation. As December creeps up on us, perhaps it’s time to think about Christmas. This year, if you’re tempted by an escape to the countryside with family and friends, we have a few last minute deals in this newsletter for Christmas and New Year.

World Responsible Tourism Day

November 2009

Today we’re at World Responsible Tourism Day at the World Travel Market in London. It’s one of the few occasions that responsible tourism makes an impact in the mainstream tourism arena. Each year, the event grows in popularity as responsible destinations and projects around the globe are celebrated by the industry. ecoescape is proud to promote sustainable tourism in the UK and Ireland. We feel that the industry is responding well to cutting down CO2 emissions and supporting local economies. There’s still a long way to go which is why we love to support our members in continuing this mission.

Wherever you decide to venture, enjoy your next ecoescape.

ecoescape’s North-facing summer

July 2009

Most people return from holiday fearing what the local weather will have in store for them. We recently experienced the opposite when returning from our Scandinavian honeymoon. Disembarking the ferry at Harwich, myself and my new husband were overjoyed to find glorious sunshine in the UK having seen very little during our holiday. Well, we did pick Denmark and Sweden, to be fair. And we chose the very two weeks that saw a particularly bad spell of wet weather.
