Series editor: Laura Burgess

Laura came up with the idea for ecoescape in 2006. She wrote and self-published the first editLaura Burgession of the book in 2007 and then successfully pitched the idea to produce a new ecoescape series to a publisher. She is now the editor of the series and has written an updated UK edition in 2008.

Laura completed a degree in languages at Nottingham University followed by a stint living and working in France and Russia. After returning, she worked for the destination marketing organisation for Nottinghamshire and continued in a PR role for the regional tourism board.

As well as editing ecoescape.org and writing new editions of the book, she regularly writes features on green travel for national publications and works with Green Guide as travel editor. She lives in London and is a founding member of the Commission for Youth Social Enterprise. Email laura@ecoescape.org or visit her blog site.

ecoescape Ireland: Catherine Mack Cathy Mack

Catherine is the author of ecoescape Ireland, which will be published in May 2008.

She is a freelance writer specialising in responsible tourism and her work regularly appears in the Observer, Metro, Daily Telegraph, the Irish Sunday Tribune and various other publications and websites. Catherine recently graduated with a Masters degree in Responsible Tourism Management from University of Greenwich, London, gaining a distinction for her research on Travel Print Media and Responsible Tourism. Catherine writes about the issues of ‘green’ travel, as well as destinations practising genuine responsible tourism policies.

Catherine was born in Ireland and now lives in London with her two young sons.

Lucy Meakin

Lucy is an Edinburgh-based writer and web designer. She graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2006 with a degree in Journalism before going on to work in web marketing for higher education. She moved to Edinburgh in the summer of 2007 where she now works as a freelancer and also writes for an ethical women's magazine along with writing features for ecoescape.

Nick Bramley

As well as working on the editorial team at ecoescape, Nick also works in adventure travel product development which includes developing responsible travel initiatives in various destinations. He studied Environmental Science at the University of Plymouth specialising in the relationship between tourism, conservation and sustainable development. Nick is currently studying an MSc in Responsible Tourism Management at Leeds Metropolitan University combining a passion for travel with his commitment to sustainability.

Nuala Ryan Nuala

Nuala recently graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology with a degree in Journalism and Irish. Her final year topics included studying the sociology of identity through the media's coverage of sport, the cultural connections between different nations, and the motives and steps involved in tracing your ancestry. Nuala works as a tour guide in a local heritage site in her home town of Clonmel in County Tipperary. She spends any free minutes reading, horse-riding or walking in the nearby hills. She is also helping to research the new ecoescape: Ireland guide.
